This is an accounting firm for which I was account manager of 5 companies, the largest of which were as follows:

Chocolate Finance – Facilitators for Car Sales and Financing. The most important task was the auditing of car documents for validity and accuracy, before invoicing to Wesbank. Also important was the receipting of monies and calculating payouts after settlements to banks, buyers and sellers, then making internet payments to all. This position required absolute attention to detail and total accuracy.

Bonngoe Productions – A Media Company involved in making of TV Shows. I did the books to balance sheet for 3 companies within the group, which included processing purchase orders, receiving invoices, comparing to budgets and reconciling before making internet payments. Also important was the control of petty cash (box value R70 000.00) for weekly movie shoots and working within a strict budget. A lot of time was spent on cost reports for the SABC (involving completion of large and complex Excel spreadsheets).

Reason for leaving Retrenchment after sale of company.

My first task was to setup management accounts, budgets, and cash flow forecasts. My duties included bookkeeping to balance sheet, cash book, debtors, creditors and credit cards. Salaries were done on a manual basis till the last six months when we switched to Pastel Payroll. On the stock side I was responsible for stocking of overseas products and invoicing complex components of 200-300 items per invoice. All logistics, local and foreign, were my responsibility as well as bank recons, forex payments, fixed asset register and year end reconciling. On a monthly basis I did the statutory returns and yearly created and presented final accounts to the auditors. I was also the personal assistant to the director.

as per company regulations.

Soundfusion are manufacturers, importers and retailers of broadcast equipment. I controlled the library of components and technical drawings, from which I produced technical manuals for the SABC and Sentech. I supervised binning, stock control and production planning as well as arranging imports, quotes, placing overseas orders, completing shipping arrangements and payment of forex accounts. I also setup the new stock system on Pastel which included bills of assembly. Credit control was key to the businees as most of the sales were done on terms. Aside from these duties I was also the PA to the General Manager, which included taking minutes, weekly cash flow forecasts and monthly management accounts. Salaries were done manually, but statutory returns were done on EasyFiling. Another task was completing and presenting final books for audit.

From Jan 1982 to Dec 1993 I worked in various positions. Starting as a salesperson in a jewelery store and ending as the Accountant for Barlow Motor Holdings Parts Division. I taught myself how to use a computer, way back when they first were introduced to South Africa. I have worked on various software programs and began my career in accounting by temping for Kelly Girl. I took all the difficult assignments were previous staff had been absent for many months, making it necessary for me to figure out what had to be done rather than being shown a clean set of books. Utilising my school accounting knowledge, I worked my way from accounts clerk to accountant.
